Christmas is always a special time of year and this year felt extra special for all of us here at Haven House. It was our first Christmas spent in the new shelter. Much to our surprise, things went pretty smooth. We dedicated a room to be Santa's workshop and even though the elves bumped elbows from time to time it was quite a joy.
The shelter itself was completely filled. We had 11 adults and 19 children.
And if you think that is something, thanks to the generous donations from our community, we were able to provide Christmas to 14 families outside the shelter. That was another 45 children.
So, all together we helped 25 families and over 64 children. That is amazing. And we could not have done that without your help, your time, your donations, your prayers, your kindness.
This has been our largest most successful Christmas ever.
Open House was a Success!

their new facility located on Island Road in Circleville Friday, July 20, with a ribbon cutting and open house.
Lisa Johnson, executive director, is pictured with staff, board members and representatives from the community cutting the ribbon.

Dear Friends of Haven House:
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your participation in our 13th Annual Valentine’s Day Dinner and Dance. We had a great time and feel that everything went off without a hitch. Early estimate is we made between $5,000 and $6,000 which is an increase from last year.
Thank you everyone who donated items, worked to set up, sold tickets, bought tickets, participated in the entertainment, or donated your time and efforts to assure our fundraiser was a success. We could not have done it without everyone’s assistance.
We will start planning immediately for next year’s event, so think about gathering those donations early for the Silent Auction. Many companies will only donate with early notice so don’t hesitate to begin thinking about who we can get to donate or what you are able to donate for next year. These items help us to increase our profit for this event, and are so appreciated.
Again a special thanks to each of you for your continued support and assistance. We cannot be successful without your help. We so appreciate all of you for everything you do for us for these special events and for your day to day support of our agency.
Serving victims of domestic violence and women and children who are homeless is our mission. Without you we would be unable to provide those special services. Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Lisa Johnson, Board, Staff and Clients of Haven House

Dear Friends and Supporters of Haven House:
I am so amazed, especially at this time of year, of the generosity and kindness shown throughout the community, and especially for our families at Haven House. Thanks to you and many others, Haven House was able to provide “the best Christmas ever” as said by one of the children here.
Many of these families haven’t had a big Christmas, and because of the generosity of so many,
we were able to make their Christmas wishes and dreams come true.
One mom said this morning that “This is the first Christmas since I was a little girl that I received a gift on Christmas morning.”
I am amazed each year at how so many call to see how they can help, and some who just drop in with wonderful donations,
and not just for Christmas but throughout the year. The spirit shown fills my heart with the joy that Christmas is supposed to be about.
It lets me know that with all the turmoil in the news and the world, that simply people are good and kind and generous.
Your donations give hope where it was lost, faith where it can be found, and love spread with each donation.
Thank you for sharing with those less fortunate than you. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to
make sure that our children, our families, and our staff (cookies galore) are able to have a Christmas that they will never forget.
So many of the families that were helped in the past, return several years later to donate
to those families that are here today. They want to give back. Some donations are small, some are very large,
but every donation is so appreciated and we do our best to make sure that anyone who contacts us with a need,
receives some assistance. We were able to make Christmas bright for 14 Moms and 15 children residing at the shelter
and 11 families with a total of 26 children living outside the shelter.
So amazing, and only with your help was this possible. We delivered turkeys to nine additional families.
May you and your families be blessed, and thank you for blessing our families with your many donations.
We are so grateful to have you support our agency and the mission that we serve at
Christmas and throughout the year. Again, thank you so much.
Sincerely,
Lisa Johnson, Staff, Board & Clients

"Haven House has been amazing and from being here I have realized
I am capable of doing this on my own. "
Former Haven House Client.
So far this year, we have served over 60 victims and 80 children. Of that number, I would estimate that 90% have been successful. Whether it be obtaining employment, housing, transportation,
protection orders or safety planning. Success comes in all forms.
It's so important to remember that everyone travels at their own pace. Some move fast, some move slow
and some spin wheels. But each victory, each goal reached creates empowerment!!!
And when a victim becomes empowered they are no longer a victim.
They bloom into a full blown survivor. Ready to face the challenges that await
them with courage, strength, self-worth and dignity.
Won't you please consider giving today to help us continue to
empower victims and break the cycle of domestic violence.
Thank you.
Well, once again the Student Give Back day was a HUGE success!!!!
I might be a little bias...but, I believe we had the best group of students!!! Just saying....
Three schools in our county were represented in our group as well as a community businessman.
In the picture is, Ryan, Morgan, Braya, Jacob, Josh, Jonathan, Austin, Bob and our director, Lisa Johnson!!!
The students worked hard and really moved us closer towards our goal of getting the new shelter
cleaned and ready for move in.
We want to thank everyone involved in this wonderful event.

This morning we were visited by Walk The Talk Ministries. They brought us toilet paper, paper towels, dish liquid, laundry detergent, tooth brushes and lots more items that we need every day to make the House run. If you haven't yet, you should check out this wonderful ministry. They are truly walking the talk and helping make a difference wherever God leads them.
We want to send a great big thank you to the PINK DIVA WARRIORS and all the hard work they put into their POKER RUN to help raise awareness and money for Haven House. After all was said and done they presented our director, Lisa Johnson, with a check for $2,340.00. The Divas also donated tons of clothing to our ladies and children.
The funds they raised will be used to help our victims get back on their feet.
The Divas are an incredible group of giving women. I have met them and attended their functions. They are so giving, kind and willing to do whatever they can to help us. Thank you PINK DIVA WARRIORS!!You hold a very special place in our hearts. God bless all of you.

The Honor Project Trust
On September 4th, 2014 Haven House traveled to Cleveland Ohio where we were presented with a check from the Ohio Honor Project Trust. The purpose of The Honor Project Trust is to identify 501 (c) (3) charitable organizations which demonstrate in their application societal impact in the State of Ohio and to distribute Cy Pres funds to those entities selected. We were 1 of 226 charities from across the state of Ohio to be chosen for these funds. While there, we met some wonderful people and learned of some extraordinary programs doing incredible work from all over Ohio. Needless to say, we felt quite humbled and honored to be a recipient at this event. You can read more about this wonderful project here The Honor Project. |
